Spark Hire Guide

What do I need for a one-way video interview?

Spark Hire One-Way Video Interviews can be completed on any device with a camera and microphone. Ensure you have a strong internet connection, a quiet environment, and good lighting for the video interview to be conducted professionally.

What browsers does Spark Hire support?

Windows/Mac

If you are using a Windows or Mac computer, we recommend using the latest version of Google Chrome (recommended), though Mozilla Firefox is also compatible. In order to use the latest version of Google Chrome on Mac, please ensure you are using OS X Yosemite 10.11 or later.

Android

If you are using an Android device, we recommend using the latest version of Google Chrome.

iOS

If you are using an iOS device, we recommend using the latest version of Safari. If using an iPad, Safari may be set to request the desktop version of the site, which will be detected as incompatible. To resolve this, go to your device Settings > Safari > Request Desktop Website and toggle this setting off. Once turned off, please re-enter the interview.

How does it work?

Before starting your interview, you’ll have the chance to watch Spark Hire’s One-way Interview Tutorial and complete a practice question to familiarise yourself with the process and check/set up your camera and microphone. Once ready, you can then select Start my interview. Each question has the following information:

  • Think Time: amount of time you have to think about the question before answering it

  • Takes: remaining number of times you can attempt to answer the questions

  • Time Limit: remaining time you have to answer the question, you will see the countdown

NB: Once you start recording, the question will disappear, but you can click "Show Question" in the top right to view it again if needed.

Once the allotted thinking time has elapsed, a countdown will begin for recording. When finished answering, click 'Stop recording' and submit your answer to proceed. The allotted times are there for your convenience, you’re not required to use the full time provided. Do not close your browser or navigate away from the interview once you have started a question, as this will result in unanswered questions.

Who will have access to the videos?

Only our recruitment team has access to the videos, which may be shared with other relevant PLUS Head Office personnel if necessary. All videos will be retained for up to nine months and deleted thereafter.
